It is interesting that we are not the same person that we were 20 years ago. Life changes us and twists us in all directions with its experiences.
When I was younger, I was innocent like my children not knowing the ways of the world. There were only good experiences then and I was happy with the way life was. Parents were always there and they were the greatest shield to life’s difficulties. My father’s advices still ring in my ears even though it has been 5 years since he passed away.
Then, life twisted and turned in numerous directions and I learnt a lot of things.
While I was always a God fearing and religious person, and always visited the temple regularly, I just did not know God’s power or grace.
Life’s difficulties threw huge bottlenecks at me in the form of health issues. My innocent and happy nature did not solve the huge problems that came my way.

My advice to my younger self:
My advice to my younger self will be that I will have to be tougher in life. This toughness was needed in the form of both physical and mental strength. It is all good and nice when life is going well. But if things start going downhill, it is necessary to be tough.
There is only one person who can stand up for you and that is “you”. There are other family members who may or may not stand up for you, but you will always have to stand up for yourself.
The sweetness and innocence of the young age might last only if things always go well, but might not be effective at handling things if things start going downhill.
So, my advice to my younger self will be to be tough and stand up for yourself always!
