Our search queries have officially made the transition from Google to ChatGPT (or any other AI model) Ask anybody and it is a sure bet that they have used ChatGPT, Claude or any other AI model in some way or other. In a hurry to get an answer quickly we might have turned to any of the AI models for an answer.

Let us refresh the privacy aspects when using AI models and AI model personalization in the post.

Since we are in hurry, we might inadvertently give out a lot of personal and private information. Let us first refresh the basics about ChatGPT/AI models and privacy in this regard:

  • Do not upload medical information, reports to get an AI models viewpoint. AI models have suggested some break throughs, but they cannot always be right. The reports can always be discussed with a doctor, and we can always go for a second opinion thereafter.
  • It is always good to remember this disclaimer: “AI models “CAN” and “WILL” make mistakes”
  • Do not upload “question papers” frequently to get answers. If one does not into get the habit of solving questions, one will lose the problem-solving skill entirely and we might outsource it to an AI model all the time. In addition, it will not help during exam time.
  • Do not divulge personal information apart from anything else that is needed to login to your account. Height, weight, personal particulars, or relationships need not be divulged under any circumstances.

Why should personal information not be uploaded to AI models:

There is invisible and sometimes dangerous work going on behind the scenes of all AI models to form a “virtual persona” of you.

Whatever be the hurry, let us not give away our privacy to an AI model. This “virtual persona” will be shared with other third party companies and they in turn will also have access to your personal information.

Let us move onto how ChatGPT sounds so nice when it talks to us:

Have you noticed that ChatGPT sounds nice when talking to us? It genuinely prods us along and asks us more questions till our doubts are cleared. It feels like a comfortable shoulder and this is what makes more people to pour their thoughts to it. It feels like a therapist without the judgement, a problem solver, a designer, a mathematician, a graphic designer, a writer all rolled into one app.

ChatGPT sounds nice because of the personalization that it comes with in the ‘Settings’:

One way to change this to go to ‘Settings’ —> Personalization to make it more professional.

If the ‘Base style’ is set to ‘Professional‘ and

‘Warmth‘ and ‘Enthusiasm‘ are set to ‘Less‘ – ChatGPT might be more professional and not prolong the conversation.

We get the answers promptly and this is a much better way when dealing with chatbots and AI models.
