Close on the heels of my search for privacy based sites and tools, I stumbled upon Swisscows which is a “data secure” privacy-focused search engine.

Here are a few salient features of Swisscows:
- Swisscows was launched in 2014
- It is a project of Hulbee AG
- You can perform your privacy focused searches at ‘swisscows.com’
- Swisscows searches return family-friendly Internet content and does not return vulgar content
- User data is not collected by Swisscows and is not stored either
- Only absolutely necessary data is collected and stored
- They have their headquarters in Switzerland and their data center in the Swiss Alps, supposedly one of the safest bunkers in Europe(known as the Swiss Fort Knox 1 + 11)
- They have positioned everything outside EU and US

- They do not store their data in the cloud and have their own servers
- The personal information of the absolutely necessary data that is collected (search data) is removed after 7 days(as an example, IP address and user agent are removed)
- Swisscows does not use cookies and does not create profiles based on you
- It does not use tracking technologies(such as pixels or fingerprints) and the only information that is gathered is not sold to anyone else
- Connections to Swisscows.com is only over HTTPS connection ensuring that conversations are not intruded upon
- All search queries are anonymized after 7 days
- Swisscows search results are powered by ‘Bing’
