Vulnerable

No, I am not talking about vulnerability scanning in Information security, instead I am talking about showing our vulnerabilities to the people around us 😉 Vulnerability in Information security is considered as a weakness. In real life also, we all have weaknesses in our system and it is the ability to show it others around us which is crucial.

When we are children, our parents know our weaknesses distinctly and help us with them. On the other hand, as we grow older, our children cannot see our vulnerabilities as we are the parents. We teach them numbers and alphabets and complicated things like Algebra and Calculus. They think of us as a demi-God because of our teaching 🙂 and cannot even think of us as weak in any particular area. Too often, I have seen parents trying to stand and brave all the time. They don’t shed a tear in front of their children and have to ‘be’ a certain way in front of their children.

Is it a good idea to be like this forever or is it good for us to show our vulnerable side once in a while? Yes…I think it is a good idea to show our vulnerable side to the children. Parents should show emotions of love, joy, anger, crying, sadness and other feeling before their children. This will show that parents are also people and children will develop more empathy for people for them as well as for people around them.
