I had already blogged about “Teenage Cryptography” a while back. Fast forward a few more years, and I have learnt more words now…:)

Gen Z’s attitude towards work and life is the subject of many memes and reels on the Internet. They are very different from the “hardworking ” Gen Xs. My generation was always advised to work hard, study hard, and even try harder for the things that don’t come easily like Math πŸ˜‰

Gen Z nowadays though drop the subject Math if it doesnt come easily πŸ™‚ It is really a happy and cool generation(which is also nice to see) Work ethics are also supposed be chill and Gen Zs are supposed to arrive on time and leave on time(no over time anywhere apparently)

It is important to note that their conversation is cryptic and monosyllabilic at most times πŸ˜‰ I don’t even know how they converse like that….

Having seen the characteristics of Gen Z, let us see some of their vocabulary:

“Guys I am going to “dip” (“Dip”, where? is my thought but the meaning is “I am going to leave” :))

“ill”(“I will”)

“izok”(“It’s ok”)

“sesh”(“session?”)

“smh”(“shaking my head”)

“IYKYK”(“If you know, you know”)

“Delulu”(“Delusional”)

“Slay”(“To do very well”)

Throwing shade”(“Saying bad/negative things about”)

“Aura loss/gain”(“When you embarrass yourself (aura loss) or impress others (aura gain) in a social situation”)

“Seenzoning”(“Reading a message on social media and not responding to it”)

“Rizz”(“charisma”)

“Locking in”(“getting really focused on something”)

  1. Amusing and a bit bewildering 😊
Their words feel like code to us, but the spirit is familiarβ€”every generation rewrites the language, yet life moves on just the same.
Such informative articles helps two generations apart by half a century to connect. πŸ™‚

  2. My favourite is Delulu is the solulu which also defines the GenZ … lol. On a serious note, the younger generation may always seem like this and gradually pave the way for development. It is the same civilization after civilization, generation after generation.
