I have written several posts on Bengaluru, our home for the past 10 1/2 years and here is one more! 🙂 I had written about Bengaluru’s worst traffic (which is a distant memory now) and it being the best the place to return to for NRIs. After writing those posts, I found more reasons to write about it… 🙂

  1. Bengaluru has been adjudged the most livable large city in the Ease of Living Index in March this year!! 🙂 (Yes, many did look at this with disbelief, but it is definitely true barring a few exceptions here and there)

2. This is the absolute longest I have stayed in any city!! 🙂

3. I have said it, and many have said it….but it still has the best climate by far! 🙂 I love my home state of Tamil Nadu – but it doesn’t have such a desirable climate….

4. Bengaluru is an absolute tech and ‘app’ city… 🙂 you can do anything and everything in Bengaluru with an app. Since the city has a good ‘techy’ and young population, everybody is in tune with all apps and their updates too. Here are some apps to ease the day to day life:

Buying milk and groceries? – Bigbasket, Bigbasket Daily, Amazon Fresh, More store and more. Most come with same day 2 hour deliveries.

Travelling? – Try Ola or Uber

Ordering food? Try Swiggy or Zomato

And IT IS THE startup capital of the India(if not the world!! :))

5. Kannada Gothilla? 🙂 Bengaluru is an easy and forgiving city – you can get by with any of the languages that you know…Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali and more

6. It has a very diverse population…I have learnt about every part of India and its customs by living in this city… 🙂

7. Bengaluru also has numerous lakes and hiking trails. Since Bengaluru is not close to the sea or ocean, it is the lakes that provide some water body for the city. We have had the good fortune of visiting the numerous lakes that dot the city. Many lakes were supposedly constructed by Kempe Gowda in the 16th century.

Some of the beautiful lakes are Agara lake, Kaikondrahalli lake, Ulsoor lake, Madiwala Lake, Sankey Tank, Nagawara lake and more. Rare birds come to visit the lakes and it is definitely a nature lover’s delight to visit the lakes and walk around them. Over the years, many lakes have disappeared and many have been abused – but it is the good citizens of Bangalore who have rejuvenated it.

8. Bengaluru is also a relatively safer city than other metros…

Can you think of any other point to describe this wonderful city? 🙂

  1. While I actually lived in Bangalore (well, Bengaluru now) for about 6 years in total, it was ages ago now… but it is home still, considering our closest family lives there.. With the events of the last year, we have been unable to visit and two years not visiting seems too long..so thank you for this post!

  2. That is good to know. I am living in Bangalore for more than 14 years now!!! And absolutely love the city and its weather. It has given me a home and accepted me, though the traffic is a very big pain!

  3. True, true, and true! I’ve been in Bangalore for over a decade and I’ve found it to be a cosmopolitan city, accepting of all kinds of people.

  4. Bengaluru traffic is definitely something to be scared about. Otherwise it is a wonderful city. I have been also living her continuously for 10+ years. In the 1990s lived here for about 6 years.
