A long time ago, I read a lot about Yoga and practised a little. My father had gifted me many Yoga books during my foot surgery days and I read them with gusto. The point to note here is, I read them more and practised them less! 🙂
Fast forward many, many years later and I made up my mind to join a Yoga class. Finally, I joined a Yoga class about six months back and I cannot emphasize the improvements and flexibility that I have observed in myself. As we age, the body loses flexibility and each person faces new physical and mental challenges. Yoga steps in and stabilizes the body and mind from what I can understand. Though, I am not rushing to do complicated asanas and become a Yoga guru, gently pushing myself occasionally feels nice.
In Yogic parlance, I have tried most of the poses like Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Virabhadrasana, Balasana, Gomukhasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Setu Bandhasana, Bitilasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, Marjariasana and many more. While most of these poses are simple poses, some do require a little bit more effort(a lot more effort if you haven’t moved your body in a long time :))

It has been a pleasant experience practicing all these Yoga poses. But I did like one pose a lot more than the other poses and that was ‘Adho Mukha’ or the ‘Downward Dog pose’.
So, why did I like ‘Adho Mukha’ more than the other poses that I have practised? ‘Adho Mukha’ was the only pose that I was able to do when I pushed myself slightly more. Never would I have thought that I could have done this pose a year back.
This of course is not to say that I will push myself more for other complicated poses 🙂 and neither should you if you are practising Yoga. It is good to just do as much as you can is my thought.
Do you practise Yoga? What is your favorite pose?

I love your humour so much! My favourite yoga pose is shav asana 😛 though I mostly say it as a joke, I am told people genuinely find it difficult to lay down with their eyes closed.
Yes…:)
