In an increasingly private world, ‘Meta’ founder Mark Zuckerberg, on Tuesday announced new privacy updates for Whatsapp messenger.
They are summarized below and they are expected to come into effect this month:
- Annoyed that everybody can see whether you are online or not? Well, fear no more… Whatsapp will be rolling a feature this month which will enable you to control who can see whether you are online or not
- Do you dread the thought of leaving a group and everybody knowing that? Well, a new privacy feature will be added for that too. You can leave Whatsapp groups silently without anybody knowing except for the administrator. This is similar to a ‘Irish Goodbye’ where one can leave a party without everyone knowing about it.
- Whatsapp will also add a feature that will block users from taking a screenshot of ‘View Once’ messages.

These are some of the new privacy updates for Whatsapp that have been proposed. What do you think? Is it enough? Or is more needed?
