All professions have a retirement. Be it a doctor, engineer, lawyer, coder, developer, privacy analyst, infosec practitioner, trainer – all of them have retirement. Sometimes, many people take premature retirement because of work exhaustion and tiredness. It is physically draining after a while to keep working everyday either because of work stress or monotony(of course, some will be enjoying their work after a prolonged period of time too)
But there is one profession that I know that does not need retirement. We enjoy doing it so much and we can do it irrespective of our age, color, gender and more! It doesn’t tire us, in fact it liberates many of us in many ways. We can do it when we are happy(then a happy output comes out! :)) , when we are sad(tears flow through our work:(), when we want to weave poetry, when we want to explore humor and more.
What is that profession that doesn’t need retirement?
It is writing, of course! 🙂 We can keep typing away on our laptop or writing the old fashioned way on paper as well. I have been writing professionally for the past 12 years and honestly, I have never enjoyed anything more than this. Maybe the only downside is that the pay is hopelessly poor but the opportunities are endless and it is a never dying industry. In this doom scrolling age, people are constantly consuming any type of information and it is up to us writers to make sure our inks don’t dry.
I have written about Java, Information Security, privacy concepts and laws, Information security certifications, personal thoughts, book about my US life, book about my father and the list is actually endless!
Being in a profession that has no retirement is actually exciting and hoping for even better days ahead! 🙂
This is the ninth post for #BlogchatterHalfMarathon!
