Having lived in Detroit for more than 7 years(2003 – 2010), I can say that the state of Michigan in USA is associated with the five Great Lakes than any other state!
- The five Great Lakes are Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Superior, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
- They are all huge fresh water lakes which feel like huge oceans and seas.
- Four lakes border the state of Michigan – they are Lake Superior, Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Michigan
- Lake Superior is the largest lake of them all.
- We have visited all the lakes except for Lake Superior
- We also went for a cruise on one of the lakes known as ‘Huron Lady’ which is a nice experience to look back on now! 🙂 The cruise just takes you on a ride along the calm waters.
- The waters of the lakes are calm unlike the beaches that one normally sees in India
- They have very small tides of about 2 inches!
- Nobody is still sure about the age of the lakes(maybe around 7000 – 32,000 years old)
- The lakes were formed as a result of water filling the glacially carved region.
Thank you for going back to the Great Lakes with me again! 🙂
Stay home, Stay safe!

Great lakes.
Great description. I lived near Lake Michigan for 3 years and loved everything about it during all weather. So good to know about other lakes.
Very informative post Jayanthi. Good luck. Happy A2Zing 🙂
