SAT/GRE vs JEE -which is harder?

Listen to this article

I have attempted both GRE and JEE. Only thing is I attempted both of them years ago(and both my kids have attempted them too) But, how did I do? The less we talk about it, the better… 🙂 But I think my GRE scores were definitely better than my JEE scores for sure….

For the uninitiated, SAT or ‘Scholastic Aptitude Test’ is the qualifying exam to do your undergraduate studies in US, Canada, UK, Italy and a few Australian Universities as well. SAT scores are accepted at numerous Universities abroad for admission to undergraduate programs.

SAT testing is mostly on reading, writing and Math.

GRE is Graduate Record Exam and is the qualifying exam for doing graduate programs(Masters) , business and law school programs abroad. There are two types GRE tests that are available. There is the GRE general test and the GRE subject tests.

GRE primarily tests you on reading, writing and Math.

JEE on the other hand is ‘Joint Entrance Exam’ in India and is the entrance exam to admit students for engineering and Architecture programs for India’s top engineering institutions(IITs, IIITs, NITs and more) The JEE also consists of two papers. The JEE Mains exam is the first exam (the scores can be used for admission to NITs, IIITs) Students who get a good rank move to write the JEE Advanced exam. Once a student clears the JEE Advanced exam with a good rank, they will get admission to India’s prestigious IITs.

The JEE Mains and Advanced test you only on Math, Physics and Chemistry.

Students undergo tremendous training right from 5th or 6th grade to prepare for the JEE exam!(face palm!) (This has however been banned and students can start coaching only from 16 years of age now)

So, which exam is tougher? I would definitely say the JEE exam is much more tougher because those exams test you on advanced Math, Physics and Chemistry. You have prepare hard for the JEE exams and those exams dig deep into the Math, Physics and Chemistry concepts. For the SAT/GRE exam, you just go with your natural knowledge of reading, writing and Math. There is no extensive preparation required and it is actually pretty easy(at least that is what I thought)

What are your thoughts? Which exam do you think is easy or hard?
