OpenAI just declared a few days back that ‘Memory for chats’ in ChatGPT will be available for Pro and Plus users.

This is remembering ‘Chat history’ with ChatGPT since the ‘Saved Memory’ feature was activated a year back. There are two types of memory now:
- Saved Memories
- Chat history(only available to Pro and Plus users as of now)

This is how the ‘Memory’ tab looks for Pro and Plus users.
- Saved Memories:
So, far ‘Saved memories’ worked by you telling the chatbot to remember certain things and the chatbot also acting on its own to remember certain things for future(like name, preferences and goals!)
You can access ‘Saved memories’ by clicking the following in ChatGPT:
Settings ———> Personalization ———> Reference Saved Memories
If you find a chatbot remembering things about you creepy, you can delete certain things from memory or delete all the things from its memory.
You can also prevent it from ever remembering anything about you and your chats by using the ‘Temporary’ chats. This will ensure that ChatGPT never remembers anything about you or what you asked.

2. Chat history:
The latest addition to the memory feature is for ChatGPT to remember your chat history with it. This is currently available only for Plus and Pro users currently. I have personally not tried this feature. This feature is supposed to “reference past chats for responding’.
You can toggle it to ‘Off’ to make sure ChatGPT does not remember all your earlier conversations.
Here is how on/off toggle works for memory in ChatGPT:
Saved Memories | Chat History | |
Toggle | On | Can be On/Off |
Toggle | Off | Off |
In order to avoid any privacy implications in the future, it is advisable to not enter any personal information or health information to AI models as they might be used to train its models.
This post is for BlogchatterA2Z 2025!
I read this during my morning commute but wasn’t able to leave a comment. It seems that companies tend to stick with AI services from their ‘trusted’ vendors, even though new players try to make a case for their data safety. Copilot appears to have the edge in this race, thanks to its integration with O365. What do you think?
Nice…I think I am too drowned inside ChatGPT…:) let me check the other AI models too…
