- Kali Linux is an open source Debian based Linux distribution
- It was released on 13th March 2013
- It is primarily used by professionals for tinkering on systems.
- It is used for professionals to practice their offensive security tactics
- It is used for pentesting, security research, Computer Forensics and reverse engineering
- It was formerly known as ‘BackTrack Linux’
- There are more than 600 pen testing tools included within Kali Linux
- There are tools for Information gathering, vulnerability analysis, wireless attacks, web applications, exploitation tools, forensics tools and more.
