‘ChatGPT’ is the most popular word on the Internet now. We have become dependent on it for a lot of things, but did you know that there are other AI assistants other than ChatGPT alone? There are several of them and you must have noticed many of them already. Some of them are Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Microsoft Co-pilot and many, many more.

All these AI assistants are powered by their corresponding AI models. Let us look at some of them in this post:

The table above illustrates a few details about the various AI assistants. I have used ChatGPT extensively and tinkered with it more than other AI assistants. ChatGPT is powered by GPT(Generative Pretrained Transformer) and has been created by OpenAI. The current AI model powering ChatGPT is GPT -4o. ChatGPT has definitely improved tremendously from its launch in 2022. It answers most of the questions quite easily. Hallucinations are much less. But the greatest improvement seems to be in image generation and video creation(which is through Sora) It also acts as a good study buddy, explains concepts, writes programs and can even chat with you on Whatsapp!

Claude is powered by Claude 3.7 Sonnet currently and is by Anthropic. The founders of Anthropic left OpenAI earlier to create this company. Claude has three plans but the free plan usage depends on the daily message limit(which restricts our usage when we might need it the most) It is also a good study buddy and explains concepts well but does not have audio functionality and the image and video creation capabilities are limited as of now.

Gemini is powered by 2.0 Flash and is by Google. It was earlier known as Bard and Google renamed it as ‘Gemini’. It has only two plans – the free plan and Gemini Advanced plan. It is able to do all the things that ChatGPT does. Chatting, answering questions, being a study buddy are good but image creation capabilities are still evolving.

With the three AI assistants, as of today, ChatGPT does seem to be having more capabilities than Claude and Gemini. However, the AI race is still heating up and I am sure we will see many, many developments in the coming days and months.

Have you worked with any/all of these AI assistants? Which one was your favorite?

  1. Reading the “Introduction to AI Assistants” was quite enlightening, even for someone like me who’s familiar with virtual assistants through my work. While I’m accustomed to using these tools in a professional setting, the insights into their evolving features and potential applications broadened my understanding. It’s fascinating to see how these assistants are continually improving, and I’m eager to explore how they can further enhance productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

  2. I became old and tired of exploring different AI models by different providers. Thats why your post was useful firstly! I stick with Perplexity and Gemini for technical and blogging respectively. My exploration with onpremise AI models, were interrupted by WriteAPageADay and BlogchatterA2Z. I need to resume in May. My CPU with NVIDIA RTX delivered yesterday. Still untouched.

  3. I am technically challenged and every new technology, i face with caution and trepidation. ChatGPT with the right prompts gives amazing results. I am warily trying out, while I have my misconceptions about it.
