Instagram is “the” app for pictures, videos, reels and much more… 🙂 It is quite trendy for the youth of today and I think almost everybody is in Instagram…either watching, posting or watching and posting…:)
Given that these pictures may be viewed by anybody on or off Instagram(if it is a public account) , it is quite common to receive messages asking for your personal phone number or address or any other personal details(if you are girl/woman with a good profile picture, you will definitely receive more! (sigh))
While it is definitely creepy that people actually do these things, these are some good things you can do to avoid it:
- Keep your Instagram account private
- Accept invitations only from known people
- Whether it is public or private account, it would be good not to share much except for your professional achievements! 🙂
- Have a general profile picture(except if you are trying to promote yourself or your business)
- You can control the visibility of your posts, comments if your account is public by following this link: https://help.instagram.com/116024195217477
6. If it is a private account – most of the things you share will only be visible to your followers
7. And last but not least, if somebody is really offensive on Instagram, you have the option to block them out completely
