In case it is hard to guess from the title, I am talking about the viral AI assistant “OpenClaw” in this post. ”OpenClaw’, ‘Moltbook’, or ‘MoltMatch’ are things that are dominating my technical feeds in recent days. And if you know me, you know that, I have to read and write about these topics right away 😉

‘OpenClaw’ was born in November 2025 but underwent several name changes before it stuck to the final name. It was initially named ‘Clawde'(pun on AI model ‘Claude’) before it was renamed to ‘Moltbolt’ and finally became ‘OpenClaw'(which I hope will be the finally name :))

“OpenClaw” is an open source smart AI assistant that is creating waves in the technical world for the right or wrong reasons on the Internet.

Rather than just being a conversational bot, “OpenClaw” actually executes user defined actions which is a huge milestone(like booking online tickets, managing workflows, interact with other systems) You might have seen personal assistants in offices, this is your own AI digital assistant that follows you everywhere on your machine and does things for you.

It might be making us more lazy by not allowing us to use more of our grey cells….but that thought might be for another post 😉

How does it work?

After you understand the documentation and follow the installation directions(which is supposed to take a very long time) “OpenClaw” will be the autonomous AI assistant that will work for you(or you might wonder if it is for you also! 😉

There is a cost involved to make it work as well

The important point to note here is that “OpenClaw” runs on your local machine. It needs local permissions and it can connect to your Whatsapp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal and other messaging platforms. It can message on your behalf on any of the messaging platforms. From OpenClaw’s blog, “wherever you are, your AI assistant follows.” 🙂

It has persistent memory which means it remembers previous conversations and sends you reminders

It can also automate a lot of tasks, book flight tickets, schedule meetings and more.

In short, the future of AI agents is just beginning!

Right reasons:

  1. As always it is the “Wow” factor that bowls the entire tech world and all are excited to try it rightaway….(inclusive of me! :))
  2. We can see the advancements in the AI agents front and the future is sure to be filled with AI assistants doing complicated things for us

Wrong reasons:

  1. Security is a big issue with AI agents running in the background all the time
  2. Since you have to give permissions to the AI agent to function properly, there have been cases when “OpenClaw” has downloaded malicious files from the Internet and spread them into groups!
  3. The installation is not an easy one
  4. It is not safe to install it on production systems following the hype, as we haven’t yet understood the long term implications of employing AI agents

Among other news, “Moltbook” is the social network for AI agents and “MoltMatch” is the match making for AI agents(good news for AI agents this Valentines Day! ;))

I have not been “Clawed” as yet…:) and I am waiting for the dust to settle down before “Clawing” in 😉

How about you?
